4 Doshas

In Ayurveda, the traditional medical system of India, the concept of doshas refers to the three biological energies that are believed to govern the physical and mental processes of the body. The doshas are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata dosha is associated with movement, and it governs bodily functions such as circulation, respiration, and elimination. People with a predominantly Vata constitution are thought to be quick-witted, energetic, and creative, but they may also be prone to anxiety and insomnia. Pitta dosha is associated with metabolism, and it governs digestion, absorption, and body temperature. People with a predominantly Pitta constitution are thought to be intelligent, ambitious, and focused, but they may also be prone to anger and irritation. Kapha dosha is associated with structure, and it governs growth, lubrication, and stability. People with a predominantly Kapha constitution are thought to be calm, steady, and grounded, but they may also be prone to sluggishness and laziness. According to Ayurvedic theory, the balance of the doshas in an individual's body determines their overall health and well-being. Imbalances in the doshas can lead to physical and emotional problems, and Ayurvedic treatment aims to restore balance by using herbs, diet, and lifestyle recommendations.
