In Ayurveda, the term "vata" refers to one of the three fundamental principles that govern the functioning of the body and mind. These principles, known as the doshas, are believed to be responsible for maintaining balance and harmony in the body. Vata represents the principle of movement and is associated with the elements of space and air.
People who are predominantly vata are thought to be lively, creative, and energetic, but also prone to anxiety and insomnia. Vata imbalances are believed to manifest as physical and mental instability, dryness, and a tendency towards coldness and irregularity. To balance vata, Ayurveda recommends practices such as regular routine, warm nourishing foods, and soothing self-care routines such as massage and warm baths.
