In Ayurveda, kapha is one of the three doshas, or energies that make up the body. Kapha is associated with the elements of earth and water and is believed to govern structure, lubrication, and stability in the body. A person with a predominant kapha constitution is thought to be characterized by qualities such as stability, calmness, and endurance.
To pacify kapha, it is recommended to follow a lifestyle and diet that is light, dry, and warming. This may involve consuming foods that are light, dry, and easily digestible, such as vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. It may also involve reducing intake of heavy, sweet, and oily foods, as well as engaging in regular physical activity and avoiding overeating. Other kapha-pacifying practices may include getting plenty of fresh air and sunlight, and engaging in activities that promote mental and emotional balance, such as meditation or yoga.
