Kapha Vata Dosha Characteristics

In Ayurveda, the kapha dosha is associated with the elements of earth and water, and is thought to be responsible for structure, stability, and lubrication in the body. People with a predominantly kapha constitution are said to be strong, solid, and enduring. They tend to have a slower metabolism and be more physically and emotionally stable, but may also be prone to weight gain, congestion, and lethargy. The vata dosha is associated with the elements of air and ether, and is thought to govern movement and communication in the body. People with a predominantly vata constitution are said to be energetic, creative, and lively, but may also be prone to anxiety, insomnia, and dryness. They tend to have a fast metabolism and be more prone to change and instability, both physically and emotionally. It is important to note that everyone has all three doshas present in their body and mind, but one or two doshas are usually more dominant. The relative balance or imbalance of the doshas is thought to be a key factor in determining an individual's physical and mental health.
