Meaning Of Kapha

In Ayurveda, kapha is one of the three fundamental bodily energies that govern physiological activity. It is associated with the elements of earth and water, and is believed to be responsible for physical structure, lubrication, and stability in the body. Kapha is said to be responsible for qualities such as calmness, forgiveness, and love, and is associated with the chest, throat, sinuses, and head. In terms of physical characteristics, individuals with a dominant kapha constitution are generally heavy and solid, with a tendency towards oily skin and hair. They may also have a slower metabolism and be prone to weight gain. To maintain balance in the body, it is believed that individuals with a dominant kapha constitution should focus on maintaining an active lifestyle, eating a light and nourishing diet, and engaging in activities that stimulate the senses and promote mental clarity. In Ayurveda, it is believed that imbalances in kapha can manifest as conditions such as congestion, colds, allergies, and obesity.
