Pitta And Kapha Meaning

In the traditional Indian medical system of Ayurveda, pitta and kapha are two of the three doshas, or fundamental principles that govern the functioning of the body and mind. Pitta represents the principle of heat and metabolism in the body. It is responsible for digestion, metabolism, and the transformation of food into energy. People with a dominant pitta constitution tend to be strong, energetic, and intelligent, but they can also be prone to anger, irritability, and impatience. Kapha represents the principle of stability and structure in the body. It is responsible for lubrication, moisture, and the structure of the body. People with a dominant kapha constitution tend to be calm, steady, and grounded, but they can also be prone to sluggishness, attachment, and a tendency to hold onto things. According to Ayurveda, every person has a unique balance of all three doshas, and understanding and balancing these principles is thought to be important for maintaining good health and well-being.
