Pitta dosha is one of the three doshas in Ayurveda, the traditional medicine system of India. It is believed to be made up of the elements fire and water, and is associated with qualities of heat, metabolism, and transformation. People with a dominant pitta dosha are thought to be intelligent, focused, and organized, but can also be prone to anger and irritability when out of balance.
Pitta individuals are generally of medium build and have good digestion and metabolism. They have a strong appetite and may have a tendency towards excess weight if they do not maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine. They tend to have good mental clarity and sharp wit, and may excel in intellectual pursuits.
However, when pitta is out of balance, it can manifest as physical symptoms such as acid reflux, indigestion, inflammatory skin conditions, and irritability. To balance pitta, it is important to eat cooling, nourishing foods, practice stress-reducing activities such as yoga or meditation, and get sufficient rest.
