In Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, the three doshas (biological energies) are vata, pitta, and kapha. Each person has a unique balance of the three doshas, and this balance is believed to influence their physical and mental characteristics and determine their susceptibility to certain illnesses.
Pitta dosha is associated with the element of fire and is responsible for digestion, metabolism, and transformation. People with a predominance of pitta dosha tend to be strong, intelligent, and focused, but can also be prone to irritability and anger if out of balance.
Guna is a term used in Ayurveda to describe the inherent qualities or characteristics of a substance. There are three main gunas: sattva (purity and goodness), rajas (activity and passion), and tamas (inertia and dullness). Each of the doshas is associated with a particular guna: vata is associated with rajas, pitta with sattva, and kapha with tamas. The balance of gunas in an individual is believed to influence their physical and mental characteristics and tendencies.
