Vata Dosha Pitta Dosha Kapha Dosha

In Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine from India, there are three main constitutional types, or doshas, that are believed to govern the physical and mental characteristics of a person. These doshas are called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata dosha is associated with the elements of air and ether, and is believed to govern movement, including the movement of thoughts, breath, and circulation in the body. People with a predominant Vata constitution are said to be quick, lively, and creative, but may also be prone to anxiety and irregular habits. Pitta dosha is associated with the elements of fire and water, and is believed to govern metabolism and digestion. People with a predominant Pitta constitution are said to be intelligent, ambitious, and focused, but may also be prone to anger and irritability. Kapha dosha is associated with the elements of earth and water, and is believed to govern structure and lubrication in the body. People with a predominant Kapha constitution are said to be calm, stable, and compassionate, but may also be prone to sluggishness and excess weight. According to Ayurveda, everyone has a unique combination of the three doshas, and maintaining balance among them is believed to be important for overall health and well-being.
