In Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, the human body is believed to be governed by three main constitutions, or doshas, called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas are believed to represent the fundamental energies that govern all biological and physiological functions in the body.
According to Ayurveda, Vata is the dosha that represents the energy of movement. It is responsible for all movement in the body, including the movement of blood, lymph, and gases. It is also associated with creativity, communication, and the nervous system. People with a predominance of Vata in their constitution are said to be energetic and lively, but they may also be prone to anxiety, irregular digestion, and dry skin.
Vata types are thought to have a thin, light frame and to be prone to weight fluctuations. They may have dry skin and hair, and may be prone to constipation and other digestive issues. To maintain balance, Vata types are advised to follow a regular routine, consume warm, nourishing foods, and engage in activities that promote relaxation and stability.
